Blastwave FX is offering a free sample pack of 68 effects from their 40 sound effects libraries. The samples are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Unported license, which basically means you can use them for anything you like if you give credit to Blastwave.
It’s a pretty good pack. Probably the best sound effect is a trailer title whoosh, which is really hard to find for free. Highly recommended!

Swords sound a lot better when they’re not plastic. Unfortunately, the metal kind doesn’t come cheap, and we really didn’t want anybody to get hit with a real sword. So we used some plastic prop swords that look pretty good. One problem: no metal sword sound effects. [Read more →]
