Maybe that title is true.

Regardless, we’re all in the same house again, working on all sorts of neat stuff.

We began this last Tuesday by having a Skype call with Rick Holets, the composer for A House for Marge. He was impressive and really made us wonder how we ever scored our own films before. Yesterday, we got a work-in-progress score from him and synced it up. Wow! Some of us were humming it all the rest of the day.

On top of that excitingness, we’ve been shooting some videos about handcrafts, hosted by Rebekah. The best part of this to me is the setup. Have a look.

We’re running a Zoom H4 hanging from the ceiling, one Canon HF S200 on a DIY dolly and track, and a small Lowel lighting kit. This is easily one of the coolest setups we’ve done. We’re getting lots of neat close-ups, plus some sweet motion from the dolly. I’m inclined to look a bit critically at some of our older stuff now and wonder why we didn’t build a dolly sooner. Especially since the thing was dirt cheap.

But wait! There’s more! Ruth and I have been building a neat DVD menu to finish up a project for Simply Charlotte Mason. It’s a rather complex DVD, as it has to handle the task of stopping automatically for the viewer to complete assignments. Check out this graphical map view.

And as if we weren’t busy enough, we still have a list of other videos for Simply Charlotte Mason to shoot. So we’re occupied. Very occupied.

It’s always exciting when you get to the rough cut stage. At that point, though the film is still aways from finished, you can sit down and watch the whole thing straight through!

As of last night, we’re at that point on both. Whoopee!

It’s momentous enough that I thought it warranted a blog post.

It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? In the last post, I left you wondering what we’d be doing in November. We didn’t know ourselves, really.
That’s changed. We are now planning on shooting a trailer for one of our favorite books. This is something we’re really excited about. Perhaps we’ll post some photos from the shoot and let you guess which book!

Plus, while we’re all together in November, we plan on discussing another interesting idea. No details on that one yet, but maybe you’ll get to hear some later.

At this point, our sci-fi script is on hold while we take an indefinite break to work on “Other Things.” What other things?

Well, at the very least, we’re doing some projects for Simply Charlotte Mason in November. Those will be fun and challenging. We’re hoping to push the quality up from previous attempts.

What else? We were working on a short, but the script called for a couple of actors we didn’t have. So we tossed that out, and now, bringing back a catchphrase from the iSundae II days, we are working on short, fun projects. And no, we can’t tell you much about them, because we’ve brainstormed a whole page of ideas and we have no idea which one(s) we’ll pick.
