This is really more of a chuckle than anything else. During the Super Bowl, I saw a trailer for Dreamworks’ new Monsters vs. Aliens movie. Well, one of the monsters is a big blue blob who proclaims that his name is, of all things, Bob! You think they watched iSundae II?

LEGO Camera Rig

Okay, calm down. LEGO has not released a camera rig kit. But somebody has built a rig out of LEGO for a stop-motion movie. Very cool.

Good Time to Buy Swords

It’s almost Halloween, which means that prop swords are on sale everywhere. Amazon in particular has a large selection of prop plastic swords. You might also want to check local stores in your area for good deals. Local stores don’t usually have as much selection as Amazon, but they do have the added benefit of letting you try out the sword first.

JellyTelly – Very Cool!

Phil Vischer (of Veggie-Tales fame) has announced a very cool new idea: JellyTelly. Go check it out, but look out, the demo video is half an hour long, so be prepared to sit down for awhile. He’s got a neat behind the scenes video for members of the Jellyfish Labs network, too.

Dryad: Free Tree Generator

I found a great new tool today. It’s called Dryad, a tree generator that is free for any use. Currently, Dryad is available for Mac and Windows. You will need a good Internet connection, because Dryad downloads user generated trees off the Dryad site, and also uploads information about the trees that you chose.

When you find a tree you like, just click the check mark button, and Dryad makes a Wavefront .obj file, which can be imported to Blender. Sweet!

Blender 2.46 RC1

The Blender Foundation has just released Blender 2.46 Release Candidate 1! This is an exciting release for Blender users, as it adds tons of great new features that allow the creation of very cool animation. I’m downloading the new version as I type!
